Hi everyone, An oddity here in my research... According to marriage indexes, Thomas Lionel Collingwood CHOWN married Edith Hannah CROFTS in the Jan-Mar quarter of 1896 at Hastings. There is also a marriage index in the Jul-Sept quarter of 1896 between Thomas Lionel collingwood CHOWN and Edith Hannah CROFTS in the St George Hanover Square registration district. There is a parish record from St Saviour's, St George's Square, Pimlico) of this marriage on 15 July 1896. Does anyone have any ideas why they appear to have tied the knot twice? Best wishes, Jon

The key may be in the marriage at Hastings. Reasons may be such as 1) Some doubt about first marriage 2) First Marriage in Register Office 3) First marriage in non-Anglican church (perhaps disparity of denomination between parties) 4) Family members unable to attend first wedding.
