    3. Have you checked to see if they appear in the 1841 or 51 censuses? 3. Hello Ruth. Yes I have checked both census. Mary died in 1827 and Joseph remarried in 1837. I've found Joseph on 1851 but not 1841 (as he was a mariner I suspect he was at sea). Its his and Mary's parents I'm trying to establish. regards Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ruth Appleby via" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, December 06, 2015 2:51 PM Subject: Re: [LONDON] John Silvey > Have you checked to see if they appear in the 1841 or 51 censuses? > > Ruth > --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus

    3. Was Joseph's second marriage after 01 July 1837? On 06/12/2015 14:58, mike smith wrote: > Hello Ruth. > Yes I have checked both census. Mary died in 1827 and Joseph remarried > in 1837. 3. Hello This doesn't help your search for Joseph's parents but there is a Joseph Silva, Mariner age 45 born in Foreign parts in the 1841 census in Albion Place, Tower Hamlets (St George Parish) [Middlesex / St George Middlesex / St Paul / District 18] an area full of seamen and mariners. He is sharing a dwelling with Ann Silva age 25, born locally, but of course the relationship is not specified and the ages are rounded either up or down (I can't recall which) to the nearest 5. However given his age and birthplace he seems likely to be the same Joseph in the 1851 census. I note that the 1851 census also shows a married daughter Mary age 28 born in Brighton so it's possible that Ann in 1841 although born in Middlesex is also a daughter, unmarried at that date. I presume the visitor William Silvy, a mariner, age 31 born in Stepney is related somehow?
