Hello, I fully realize three initials and a date of death are very little to go, but I am hoping some kind person who has access to The Times archived records on line can help me by checking death notices for the period immediately following January 5th 1900.. The inscription appears on a mourning ring which once belonged to my grandmother (1873-1948). She gave it to my sister in 1948, which was about the same time she told her of a fiance she had once had who died in a colonial war. I strongly believe my sister was given the ring at the same time our dying grandmother 'confessed' to having had a fiance before they could marry. My first thought that EML had died in the Boer War went nowhere. Can someone help me? Thanks, Nick P.S. We used to have access at our local (Vancouver) city library but it was discontinued quite a few years ago.
