I am hoping somebody can help me with an interpretation of handwriting! James Randfield is recorded as being baptised on 17.03.1793 at St Nicholas, Deptford. I believe his parents were James Randfield and Saince Burroughs who were married on 20.12.1790 at Christchurch, Spitalfields. However on the original document of James junior's baptism the parents have been transcribed as 'Sborch' followed by ( what looks like) Labourer in the 'stowage'. Can someone with more experience than me fathom this one out? The plot thickens! Saince Randfield married a John Marsh on 24.09.1792 at St Edmund King and Martyr, City of London (witnessed by her brother Robert Burroughs) and went on to have several more children ( one of which is called Burroughs Marsh). On the original entry of that marriage she appears to be recorded as a spinster. Also I can find no death for the first husband or further mention of the son James. All help would be very gratefully received! Jill, Cumbria
