    2. LORI ADKINS
    3. Hello List, I have found a strange situation with one of my ancestors. I have a baptism for St Mary's church in Twickenham for Thomas Ashley GARLICK baptized May 6, 1756 son of Thomas and Jane GARLICK Twickenham, then I have just found another baptizim for Thomas Ashley GARLICK baptized Jan 14, 1825 son of Thomas and Jane GARLICK St George's Bloomsbury. I do know that Thomas and Jane GARLICK (nee) Shuckburgh, did have a son Thomas Ashley in Twickenham and then the family moved to Bloomsbury were two more daughters were born. Does anyone know how this is possible. Thanks Kind Regards Lori

    3. Do you know the death date of the first Thomas (bap 1756)? Could he have been (re) baptised just before he died? Or the later Thomas is another generation? So, check the records, which reveals, first that Thomas Ashley GARLICK, baptized 14th.January, 1825, son of Thomas, pianoforte maker, and Jane, was born on 3rd.June 1823. So, this is a "new" Thomas Ashley G. Then, an Ashley Thomas GARLICK is born Sep.1989 in Portsmouth RD. You might want to look harder at these marriages: Thomas Garlick 18 Sep 1821 Jane Lawson St Pancras Parish Chapel Thomas Garlick 14 May 1826 Jane Salter Shoreditch St Leonard Thomas Garlicks seemed to like marrying Janes: but these are the two for the time period. You might also follow up these children of Thomas & Jane Thomas Ashley Garlick 14 Jan 1825 Thomas Garlick,Jane Garlick Bloomsbury St George Camden Henry Wodhull Shuckburgh Garlick 8 May 1833 Thomas Garlick,Jane Garlick St Alban Wood Street City of London Jane Shuckburgh Garlick 8 May 1833 Thomas Garlick,Jane Garlick St Alban Wood Street City of London Shuckburgh Frederick Garlick 8 May 1833 Thomas Garlick,Jane Garlick St Alban Wood Street City of London William Lawson Shuckburgh Garlick 8 May 1833 Thomas Garlick,Jane Garlick St Alban Wood Street City of London Ada Shuckburgh Garlick 6 Apr 1836 Thomas Garlick,Jane Garlick Holborn St Sepulchre City of London Richard Thuckburgh Garlick 19 Apr 1836 Thomas Garlick,Jane Garlick Holborn St Sepulchre City of London For the earlier baptism you could look more closely at this marriage Thomas Garlick Bann 20 Apr 1756 Saint Mary The Virgin, Twickenham, Middlesex Jane Shuckburgh There are sufficiently few GARLICKs in the London area 1750-1850 for you to be able to build up family groups and then see if you can link them. 3. Hi Lori As John has pointed out, the 1825 baptism was of a child. I cannot find the 1756 one on Ancestry, but you have presumably seen the original register and presumably no date of birth is shown. But I wonder, given the closeness to the marriage date of Thomas and Jane, whether it was an adult baptism of the groom to be. Best wishes Caroline > I have found a strange situation with one of my ancestors.
