    3. I wonder if it is LS after Charles and William and could that be short for Layston, Herts. Emma's could be a NK for not known. Marg >From the Beautiful British Columbia Cariboo Region, Canada ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron Lankshear" <ronlank@yahoo.com.au> 1851 census has some to me confusing squiggles for place born. Could I please ask for opinions on these squiggles There are William Charles John and Emma SKEGGS on this page HO107; Piece: 1712; Folio: 163; Page: 18 its a workhouse in Hatfield They have Do or Ditto for county and then something like LL or SL after Come down to Emma Skeggs who has Do for Middx after Charlotte and Sarah NOVRAD from Shoreditch and Hoxton But then Emma has what looks like a N followed by the LL or SL similar to William and Charles up above. The N is similar to the Northaw for John Skeggs. So I am wondering if the squiggles are really NK and sometimes just a K HELP PS Elizabeth Sarah Skeggs was my grandmother and checking back needs almost a one name study -- Ron Lankshear -Sydney NSW (from London-Shepherds Bush/Chiswick)
