Having worked with large numbers of certs, my first question would be - who gave the information for the marriage certificate? Or... who gave the information at the time of the birth? Do you have verification that "William" is correct? It always amazes me how often the informant was incorrect. I even had a birth certificate once where a baby's mother was listed as "Unknown"!
