Hello. I'm trying to trace the birth of Frank Reeves. Birth year about 1882. He married 1914 to Rose Alice Stephens. On the certificate the name of his father is George Reeves. They married in St george East Middlesex London. I'm just hitting a brick wall. Can anyone help please. Many thanks to all. Joan.

Hi Joan Sadly the marriage does not show George's occupation just deceased. This is what I first found after the marriage....... 1891 census has George Reeves 59 Boiler Maker Rebecca Reeves 57 Francis Reeves 12 Office Boy Post born Poplar Richard Wm Reeves 10 George Reeves 6 RG12; Piece: 326; Folio 33; Page 5 and they are also in 1881 RG11; Piece: 501; Folio: 152; Page: 36 So if Frank was born Francis then 1878/1879 Francis seems to be the one that fits with Frank although older than he shows in census etc. But I think Francis is not your Frank see what I find later And I presume this is Frank and Rose 1901 James Russel 49 Eliz B Russel 38 John P Russel 19 Ellen Russel 14 James Russel 9 Frank Reeves 19 St George in The East Rose Reeves 19 St George in The East, Charles Reeves 4 Months RG13; Piece: 309; Folio: 99; Page: 42 1911 I have only looked at Index but I think these are their children St George in the East REEVES FRANK 1882 29 REEVES ROSE ALICE F 1882 29 REEVES FRANK 1907 4 REEVES GEORGE THOMAS 1904 7 REEVES ROSE ALICE 1909 2 I assume some obstacle to their marriage until 1914. I could not find a previous for him. perhaps her father objected and they only married when he died......... or could they have married before and something went wrong with registration so never got into GRO..... There is this baptism and George is a Engineer which could equate with boilermaker but mother is not Rebecca and it makes Frank older than the 1891 Francis....... Frank Reeves 2 Jul 1876 George Reeves, Susan Alice Reeves Stepney St Dunstan and All Saints Tower Hamlets Born 15 June 1876 But 1881 has George Reeves abt 1850 Widower N K, Surrey, England Head Engineer Mining Charles Reeves abt 1875 Stepney, Middlesex, England Son Frank Reeves abt 1877 Stepney, Middlesex, England Son RG11; Piece: 465; Folio: 36; Page: 10 This does seem to be the 1876 baptism Frank and using Frank at marriage seems to fit well and also a brother Charles and also name for Frank and Rose's son But then this Frank is some 5 years older than he was saying at marriage etc.......
