University College London "the godless institution in Gower Street" was founded in 1826 and King's College London in 1828. However I doubt if either was accepting 10 year-old boys! But they each had, and still have, associated schools. King's College School (now in Wimbledon) was founded in 1828 and University College School (Hampstead) in 1830. Both are very succcessful today and each has a website. I think it is very likely that they will still have Admission Registers from the beginning, so enquiries will probably tall you where he went.
