Isleworth was in the Brentford registration district.. A search on FreeBMD between 1860 and 1866 gives only one John Lee 1863 Dec 3a 61 Brentford. If you haven't already obtained birth cert it might be worth a chance. Jean, welcome to the Lee family search and associated brick walls due to the very common surname. I too have a John LEE ancestor born around 1860 but mine was born at Southwark. If you have his father's name and occupation then like Jean advises obtaining a birth certificate will be the only way to go, unless someone on this lists finds a likely candidate on Ancestry's London baptisms database. A registry somewhere close to where John claimed he was born may be a start, but very often where a person thought he was born bears no comparison where the event actually took place, and very often it was the mothers home area where a child was actually born and maybe registered. Also if applying for a birth certificate and not 100% sure it is the correct one, you can these days for the same fee apply for the GRO to look for the correct entry one year either side of a year you nominate if you state you don't know the exact reference. In that case if the entry in Brentford shows his father was not John then the GRO will give you a total fee refund and you can search further. Lastly once you have found the correct entry I strongly suggest you add a "postit note" to the relative entry to the FreeBMD website, as this would be of emense assistance to all the other LEE researchers out there and you never know it may lead to fellow researchers with branches from your same LEE tree. This has happened to me several times especially as I include a "non computer recognised" e-mail address to each "post it note". cheers and best of luck, Bob ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jean Greenwood" <jeangreenwood@virginmedia.com> To: "Christine Ashby" <christine_ashby@btinternet.com> Cc: <LONDON@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, October 22, 2011 8:33 PM Subject: Re: [LON] Brickwall - LEE > Isleworth was in the Brentford registration district..
