Many thanks to all who replied to my request.   Clement Hoy, c1625-1703, of London, Cheame, etc. Michael Hoy, c1758-1830, of London, St Petersberg, Southampton etc.   Both were wealthy, public figures who generated lots of records, yet I know nothing of their parentage. Like most gentry they could have been born at any manor-house within the family estates anywhere in SE England. Does anyone have them in their line?
