I have been researching my family tree for over ten years, and proudly have many of my ancestral lines completed up till at least 1837. However, one of my family names has proven very difficult – Saunders, and especially my gg grandfather: Henry John Saunders. He was born in about 1862 – 1865 in St Pancras. I can’t find the exact date, because there are so many Henry’s around at the time. In 1890, I have discovered his Marriage - he was aged 25 and a General Dealer. Married on 13 May 1890 and lived at White Hart Lane. I also found out his father was called Thomas, and had died. Yes (!), I thought – I’ll find him in the Census before, but to no avail. I can’t find any Henry’s and Thomas’s apart from one in Bethnal Green – who is not them (because Thomas is still alive in 1901!). I do find Henry in the 1891 census (age 27), born in St Pancras with his child (John Henry George) and wife still living in White Hart Lane and is a Shop Dealer. Afterwards, I see no sign of him in 1901 and 1911. Finally, in his son’s marriage certificate, I discover he has died and his middle name was John. Can anyone help me please? I’m really stuck on this and would be grateful for any tips the members have on breaking through these numerous problems – particularly the common name. I particularly am keen to discover when Henry was born – I can then order the certificate, and start working back. One of the most important things about this is I would really like to give the family tree to my uncle who celebrates his 90th birthday soon – he’s a direct ancestor and grandson of Mr Henry Saunders. Any help is appreciated by this fine list. Many thanks! Matt
