    3. Hi Peter and John Thanks for the reply. I only know that Babsfield was the abode when James Oliver, son of Moses Oliver, mariner, and Joan his wife, was baptised at St paul Shadwell on 26 April 1681 and that it was also the place given when Joan Oliver, wife of Mosses Oliver, was buried at the same parish a month later. But just where Babsfield was, is a mystery. Thanks again for the replies. Could it be that Babsfield is a mis-reading? Kind regards, John Henley ----- No virus found in this message. 3. Yes it does seem to be Babsfeild and presumably meaning of a local place- rather than Moses came from sfar away in rural Surrey This map of 1767 on David Hale site Shows fields at back of Shadwell Bluegate and Sun Tavern http://mapco.net/anon/anon04.htm and just east of that map I can see Glass House fields on 1862 map So fields in Shadwell and perhaps Babs was a very temporary name for one Ron Lankshear -Sydney NSW (from London-Shepherds Bush/Chiswick) try my links http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~lankshear/ On 2011-07-12 7:23 AM, Leonie Oliver wrote: > I only know that Babsfield was the abode when James Oliver, son of Moses Oliver, mariner, and Joan his wife, was baptised at St paul Shadwell on 26 April 1681 and that it was also the place given when Joan Oliver, wife of Mosses Oliver, was buried at the same parish a month later. > But just where Babsfield was, is a mystery. > Thanks again for the replies.
