This range is covered by the Alphabetical Register of Joiners in MEPO 4/333, which should give name, rank, warrant number, division, dates of appointment and removal, and names and addresses of referees. But maybe you already have all that information? Probably Kew suggested MEPO 5/9 since that series of correspondence includes details of some early pension payments. I haven't looked at MEPO 5 myself, so I'm afraid I can't advise further, sorry!
