Hello Helen Drawing similar blanks to your own, I had a look at their marriage record. Could a clue lie in Leonard's occupation, calling or status, given as 'estanciero'? To me, this would suggest that Emily might have spent at least some time abroad in Latin America following her marriage to Leonard in Hampstead. I have to say I haven't homed in on them in any passenger lists up to now, but I'm no longer surprised they're so hard to find in England. I think Katie has a good point I just cannot see them in any census and I looked for any surname Emily born c1857-61 married to a Leo*. Missing in 2 census is strange. I see 1931 death in Sussex with probate - which says widow leaving GBP 3033 Looked for death of Leonard but no one looked like his age so could have died outside of England Free search of 1911 shows an Emily S Watkins b1859 in Kensington - could see a Leonard in index for Kensington Ron Lankshear -Sydney NSW (from London-Shepherds Bush/Chiswick) try my links http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~lankshear/ On 2011-05-01 3:05 PM, Helen Carter wrote: > WATKINS Emily Seringa b.1859 Hampstead, Middlesex > WATKINS Leonard b. c1860 >
