However, I thought the enumerator did not use this style of 'H' until on page 22 I found 'Hellen Ford / 68 / Housekeeper' where he uses his normal 'H' for Hellen but this form for 'Housekeeper' Directories may give a clue Regards John Henley
I wondered about Book Agent or House Agent? But very difficult to read! Maybe News agent? I can't think of too many likely types of "agent" that a woman would be in 1841, but that seems quite possible. Her son Edward is a Bookseller's assistant, and in 1851 daughter Sarah is a Bookfolder & sewer, so it seems a related trade. Shame Mary herself is occupationless in 1851 and 1861 (didn't look any further). Refs for 1851 & 1861 if you don't have them: HO107; Piece: 1512; Folio: 139; Page: 15 RG9; Piece: 147; Folio: 24; Page: 45 Cheers, Katherine On 8/04/2011 8:05 PM, David Roberts wrote: > Hello List! > I am interested in the occupation of Mary Knight, age 37, on HO 107 piece > 661 Book/folio 6/10 page 13. > > It is ?? agent but I can't decipher it. > > Anyone any ideas? > > Regards > > David Roberts
