Hello to the list, I have been trying to find my g.grandfathers sister, named above, on 1891, 1901,1911 census' I have also checked the Death indexes and Passenger lists, with no luck whatsoever. Mary Ann Eliza was born St.Andrews, Holborn 1855 and married Thomas Francis BERNASCONI in 1880, he was born Dublin 1854 (according to the 1881 census). I have located the Ancestry image and also have the certificate for the marriage. I managed to find them on the 1881 census, Mary Ann Eliza had been mistranscribed as Marian E. BERNANON and he as Thomas BERNANON living at 34 Noble Street, St.Lukes, Finsbury. I have also checked the street address on FMP for 1891 with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi Apri Perhaps you should check marriages, too:) A Mary Ann Eliza BERNASCONI married a James Francis ARNULL in 1884. Alas no Ancestry image - must have been registry office or non-con. She seems to have got a bit older by 1891, but I think it may well be your gal. Best wishes Caroline Sent from my iPad On 7 Jun 2011, at 20:32, "April Moran" <april.moran@virgin.net> wrote: > Hello to the list, > > I have been trying to find my g.grandfathers sister, named above, on 1891, 1901,1911 census' I have also checked the Death indexes and Passenger lists, with no luck whatsoever. > > Mary Ann Eliza was born St.Andrews, Holborn 1855 and married Thomas Francis BERNASCONI in 1880, he was born Dublin 1854 (according to the 1881 census). Many thanks to Caroline and Ron for their input regarding my elusive lady. I took a look at the 1891 census that Caroline found, but am certain this is not the person I am seeking. When Caroline replied about the marriage, it rang a bell, so I looked through my file and found the certificate for that marriage, I had ordered it 2 years ago, also thinking, like Caroline, that she must have remarried. I certainly didn't think that there could be two young ladies of the exact christian names together with that surname, but there is/was. This is not my Mary Ann Eliza BERNASCONI. This one, married to James Francis Arnull, is a spinster and father's name is Frederick BERNASCONI occ. trunk maker. I was able to cross check this information on the Ancestry site, now that these new indexes are available, and there she was, in the Birth & Baptisms 1813-1906, father Frederic, mother Lucy Louisa. So, I'm back to square one again. Any further help would be greatly appreciated. Indeed she is not your Mary Ann. This in 1881 fits the one who marries James Arnull in 1884 at Brentford. Mary Bernasconi Frederick, Lucy abt 1847 Marylebone, Middlesex, England Daughter Acton, Middlesex and yours is in 1881 with Thomas But I've looked for Mary Ann and Thomas with quite general wildcard searches around the world. There are Mar* Bernasconi in Australia Electoral Rolls but no Mary Ann and no Thomas. My guess would be that Thomas decides to return to Ireland Ron Lankshear -Sydney NSW (from London-Shepherds Bush/Chiswick) try my links http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~lankshear/
Hello Ron, Thank you for the extra searches you did concerning my elusive couple and also confirming that there were two different females with the same name (albeit one a maiden surname and the other a married surname). I tried numerous other searches but they remain elusive. I will keep looking. Your input is very much appreciated.
