    3. I have a relative [a vicar] who was granted a civil divorce in the High Court in 1896.[With newspaper headlines] He remarried in 1903 in the Church of England in London, not too far from his own parish. I understood that this wasn't possible in the church of England without special permission??? His previous wife was still living. Does anyone know what the church regulations were for this period?
