Hi Listers, I am wondering if there is any records that could prove if a convict I have found is mine. He was 19 years old and and convicted in 1806 and sentenced to be deported for 7 years for grand larceny. He was on the hulk of the ship The Retribution but died onboard in 1811 which is amazing that he was onboard for so long. The only connection for me is that the age is right and the name could be either Farrar or Farrer because as you can imagine they changed the spelling to suit themselves. Would there be any records of where he was living at the time he was caught or would there be any records of where he was buried or would it have been an unmarked grave ? I have found the Old Bailey Records for his trail, but again nothing to prove if he was mine. Thanks, Maureen in Oz.
