    1. [LONDON] LEECH/REYNARDSON

    3. Hi all I have the brother of my g g g g grandfather Edward LEECH born 1702 in Frensham, Surrey, son of George Leech of Dogmersfield, Hants. Maltster. He was apprenticed to Alice, widow of William Daverell, Distiller, 19 Feb 1718/9 in London. On the 13th of Sept 1731, he married Catherine REYNARDSON at St Clement Danes, in London On the 2nd of February 1737, he was murdered (stabbed after an argument) by his brother in law Abraham Reynardson.  Abraham then fled England and went to France. George LEECH was buried in St Clement Danes on 8/9th February 1737. The only Catherine i can find was bapt in 1691 St Peter Le Poer,  daughter of Joseph Reynardson and Anne Coppin. (Anne was from Hertfordshire). This means she was 40 years old when she married George?  They were a wealthy family.  I understand the argument was about money as George Leech had been declared bankrupt in 1736 (from newspaper reports), so he may have married her for her money.... I cannot find any children born to them. Question: Catherine Reynardson/Leech seems to have completely disappeared.  She may have gone back to Hertford where she was originally living at the time of her marriage, but i cannot find a death or a remarriage that fits either in London or Herts or anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Jo

    3. An interesting story, Jo. The TNA website shows that the will of a Catherine Leach, widow, of Saint George the Martyr, Middlesex, was proved in P.C.C., 23 December 1776 (PROB 11/1026/211). Perhaps it would be worth having a peep at it. (P.S. I noticed another P.C.C. will of a Catherine Leach, widow, of Southwark, proved in 1790 (PROB 11/1196/14), but yours would have been rather old by then.) Kind regards, John Townsend
