    1. [LONDON] researching Robinson family

    3. Hi List, Could some kind person help me understand what could have happened to some of my ancestor’s children. William and Emily Robinson emigrated to Argentina in 1888/9 taking 7 of their 12 children with them. In a Argentine Herald article in 1938 she said that she had left 5 children behind in England. From what I can gather they had assisted passage out there on German Steamer and maybe they were only allowed to take so many of the family. Maybe they thought they would make money in Argentina to then bring the rest of the family out later. Unfortunately William died 5 years after arriving in Buenos Aires. My question is what would they have done with the 5 children left behind, I cannot find them living with relatives and wondered would they have been put into a workhouse or some sort of home? Unfortunately I do not know any first names of these children. Someone may have some ideas. Their last address in 1881 was : 2 St. Agatha Square, Shoreditch, Middlesex. Many thanks Valerie Compton.
