Thanks for your reply but this family is not the right one unfortunately. My George's father is George married to a Mary. W. Smith
Can SKS help me locate a family in the 1861 Census please. George SIRKETT aged abt 24 is married to Mary (25) and has a child – William SIRKETT b: abt 1860. George’s father and siblings always live in the Islington / Pentonville / Holloway area, In 1871 my family are living at Coachhouse “The Cock” now “Wine Cottage”, Holloway Rd. but I simply cannot find the family in 1861 having tried several variations of their name. Silkert Sickert Siswit etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus
On behalf of the villagers of Simiane-la-Rotonde in Provence, southern France, I am searching for living relatives of this man, one of the five RAF crew members who died when their Wellington bomber crashed into a nearby hillside on the night of 10th May 1944. The names of the crew are on that village war memorial and it would be wonderful if any family members could be told about this. Kenneth's parents were Walter James Jackson [bn 1871, probably at 2 Angola Mews, Kensington] and Ada Florence Clark [bn 1881, possibly at 124 Seymour Place, Marylebone ] who married on 26th December 1914 at Christ Church, Notting Hill. Walter’s father was Samuel Jackson, cab proprietor, born circa 1834 Northamptonshire; Ada’s father was Richard Clark, horsekeeper and cabman, born circa 1855 in Upminster Essex. I have researched the siblings of Kenneth’s parents to some extent, too, but thought this mailing list might be an easier route.
Thanks: There was one [John Marshall Marr] d:1871 m. [Emma Minchin] who was maybe 1860's or so, [Formerly of 43 Portland Place Mddx]. I suspect he is named for [Curate John Marshall St. Sidwell's Exeter] ?. So there seems to be some clergy element to [43 Portland Place]. Their dg [Jane Minchin Marr] m:1881 [William Hogg Wolseley Markham of Antrim], his mother. Then [Arthur Basil Markham] of [1915: 47 Portland Place]: So No.47/48 more of an MP residence etc. Thanks, but I would not be needing the census pages. Bart. ===================== -----Original Message----- 1881: No 43 Residence of John GORING, Clerk in Holy Orders, wife family 14 servants. No 47 Housemaid and Cook. Hello, I fully realize three initials and a date of death are very little to go, but I am hoping some kind person who has access to The Times archived records on line can help me by checking death notices for the period immediately following January 5th 1900.. The inscription appears on a mourning ring which once belonged to my grandmother (1873-1948). She gave it to my sister in 1948, which was about the same time she told her of a fiance she had once had who died in a colonial war. I strongly believe my sister was given the ring at the same time our dying grandmother 'confessed' to having had a fiance before they could marry. My first thought that EML had died in the Boer War went nowhere. Can someone help me? Thanks, Nick P.S. We used to have access at our local (Vancouver) city library but it was discontinued quite a few years ago.
G'day Bart, This wiki site provides general info which leads me to believe that the area contained established up-market accommodations. In 1881, No 43 was the residence of John GORING,Clerk in Holy Orders, wife and family plus 14 servants. No 45 was occupied by a Housekeeper and No 47 by a Housemaid and a Cook. No 49 was the residence of part of the Chinese Embassy. No's 45 and 47 were possibly townhouses for absent owners. Hope this helps, can send the Census pages should you wish. Hello Marg, Thanks for the reply. Just a couple of queries, I have Elizabeth in 1851 census as being born St Georges Hanover Square, and if they were married in 1837 why was he not with her in 1841. I wish people would keep the same spelling of their names.it would make life a lot easier. Back to the drawing board with regard to Josephs parents whose father I have been led to believe is John (Silvey/Silvy/Silva) regards Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: "Margaret Cambridge" <[email protected]> To: "mike smith" <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, December 06, 2015 3:49 PM Subject: Re: [LONDON] John Silvey > Hi Mike, > I found the marriage banns but that doesn't give anything more than what > you > have. > In 1841 Joseph is with a 25 year old Ann and he is said to be born in > foreign parts. Hi to all, Not sure if I have the right site. Can some body tell me if a death cert is is issued if you donate your body to science,Im not sure but my grandpa may have done this, and where can I look to find out ?. Thankyou for your help jeff footer
Hi Jeff What happens to your body would not be relevant to the registration of your death It should be registered in the district where he died and you would look in the GRO index for it and then order the certificate Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 06/12/2015 22:47, Kathleen & Jeff Footer via wrote: > Hi to all, Not sure if I have the right site. Can some body tell me if > a death cert is is issued if you donate your body to science,Im not > sure but my grandpa may have done this, and where can I look to find > out ?. > > Thankyou for your help > > jeff footer --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus
Hello This doesn't help your search for Joseph's parents but there is a Joseph Silva, Mariner age 45 born in Foreign parts in the 1841 census in Albion Place, Tower Hamlets (St George Parish) [Middlesex / St George Middlesex / St Paul / District 18] an area full of seamen and mariners. He is sharing a dwelling with Ann Silva age 25, born locally, but of course the relationship is not specified and the ages are rounded either up or down (I can't recall which) to the nearest 5. However given his age and birthplace he seems likely to be the same Joseph in the 1851 census. I note that the 1851 census also shows a married daughter Mary age 28 born in Brighton so it's possible that Ann in 1841 although born in Middlesex is also a daughter, unmarried at that date. I presume the visitor William Silvy, a mariner, age 31 born in Stepney is related somehow? Rosemary - that only applied to birth registrations. Although all births, marriages and deaths had to be registered in the early days the onus was on the registrar to seek out new births so many were missed. However, there wasn't the same problem with marriages, registration for which the church minister was responsible, and burials could not take place without a certificate. There was no penalty for the non-registration of births until 1875. Hello Ruth. Yes I have checked both census. Mary died in 1827 and Joseph remarried in 1837. I've found Joseph on 1851 but not 1841 (as he was a mariner I suspect he was at sea). Its his and Mary's parents I'm trying to establish. regards Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ruth Appleby via" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, December 06, 2015 2:51 PM Subject: Re: [LONDON] John Silvey > Have you checked to see if they appear in the 1841 or 51 censuses? > > Ruth > --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus
