    1. [LONDON] Riley Street Battersea 1841
    2. Robyn Clarke
    3. I am trying to identify an address given on a Birth Certificate dated 1842. Although there are several variations relating to this woman's life, her daughter's Birth Certificate has been purchased and the Mother's place of residence given as 281 Riley Street, Battersea. The child was born in the Clerkenwell Workhouse. Would anyone know if there was such a road in the area in 1841. I cannot find it in 1841 census myself but perhaps someone else could. The other alternative could be Ridley Street.....but any help would be appreciated. I am trying to find who may have lived there during this time, other than the Mother. Stranger things have happened but the Clerkenwell Workhouse would be a long way from any part of Battersea in 1841. *Mick Gurling* /[email protected]/ (203) 804-1822 "PhD" doesn't mean someone knows more than you, it means they spent more time in school than you. 3. Hi Bruce Bathsuah as its transcribed in the record on Ancestry is a variant of Bathsheba a biblical name The baptism in 1756 was a non conformist Presbyterian one, so not unusual to find biblical names The marriage in 1753 was by licence, there is a transcript on findmypast, licence dated 8th Dec 1753, only bride (Bathshuah) and grooms names are mentioned in the transcript , whether there is more in the original I don't know, copy can be ordered from the Society of Genealogists for £15 apparently Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 26-Apr-17 12:48 PM, Bruce Miles wrote: > > Hi List, > I would like to find out more about the Marriage between Thomas Smalley and Bathsuah Cornwall on the 10/12/1753 at St Sepulchre, Holborn. > The Brides forename is so unusual to me, is this a foreign name? > I have confirmed that my Ancestor was Cornwall Smalley who was baptised as a non conformist on the 05/09/1756 at Chesterfield by Thomas only. > Because my Ancestor's forename was 'Cornwall', I have a feeling that this Marriage might be the correct entry. > Can anyone provide an opinion on this scenario? > Incidentally, Cornwall married in London and worked there as a 'Russia Merchant' > Regards. > Bruce Miles ( Melbourne, Australia)

    3. Hi List, I would like to find out more about the Marriage between Thomas Smalley and Bathsuah Cornwall on the 10/12/1753 at St Sepulchre, Holborn. Incidentally, Cornwall married in London and worked there as a 'Russia Merchant' Regards. Bruce Miles ( Melbourne, Australia)

Hi Liz As Bill says, its likely to be for Private Baptism, often due to the child being sickly and thought may not survive Anyone can baptize a child, later they were received into the church to complete the event How they were recorded varies greatly by parish Private baptisms are very common in one parish and rare in another Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 24-Apr-17 4:40 AM, Liz Maxwell wrote: > Hi List, > > I have Emily Julia Rawlings baptised 09/05/1884.
