    3. Thank you, Nivard. Very handy tip. Meanwhile, I'd found the page with the general PDF pilot information. It's at https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/PDF_most_customers_want_to_k now.asp Not quite sure how I found it, but it worked once I'd logged in again. Glad of your tip and that I found the info. Just had a mail from the GRO that they will be answering my mail query within 5 working days. 3. Thank you, Nivard Sounds like a good start. More expensive than the Scotland records, but still better for family historians than the England & Wales GRO snail mail option. I do know the pilot is due to run until 30th November or 45,000 PDFs, whichever is earlier, so I hope the infrastructure is in place and can cope. Now to find where on the site I can order a few PDFs. 3. Apologies to the list for this general query but it may be of interest to others hoping to order BD records for the London and other areas: I understand that, from today, the GRO are running a pilot under which we can order birth and death records in PDF format to be emailed to us. Well, now that many mother's maiden names are shown in the index even before 1911, I can home in on more of my London ancestors, even those with common names, so I'm thrilled to hear of the GRO PDF experiment. However, for more information on the hows and wherefores (and not least the cost), the GRO refers me to the Most People Want to Know section. Up to now, though, I've been unable to find the relevant information, It's as though they've launched the pilot before the infrastructure is ready, but I expect it's just me who can't find it. Is there anyone on the list who knows where to find this information please? (I've mailed the GRO but unsure if or when they'll be able to answer, beyond the automatic reply, referring me BACK to the most wanted section.) Thank you and happy hunting everyone, Katie de Haan Born London UK resident in The Netherlands

    3. Often ancestors seem to be written out of our family histories by means of destroying any photos of them. Though I have a large number of family photos I have never been able to find one of a particular forbear who was convicted of a number of crimes at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. I wonder if anyone has managed to obtain any criminal record or prison photos and if so can you advise on source. Regards Tony

    3. Hello Ladies, Jean goes into hospital for her operation 6.30am tomorrow morning, she is the first to have an operation. Peter is very ill and has gone into hospital by ambulance yesterday evening. Peter has not been in good health for some time, his heart monitor went off over a week ago, he had to go to the hospital to have it adjusted. Jean said Pete is very ill, it sounds very serious. Both Jean and Peter will be in the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, Jean daughter is coming down from Scotland to look after her when she comes out of hospital. I have just come off the telephone after speaking to Jean, she said she is stressed out, what with Peter, getting someone to look after the dog, and getting everything ready to go into hospital. As soon as I hear anything further about Peter and Jean I will contact you again. Hope you are all well. Love Barbara & Roger x
