    1. [LONDON] The BALMONT Family - Westminster - Marylebone - Kensington - Paddington
    2. Jon OFHS5790
    3. Hi everyone, I’d love to know if there are any BALMONT family researchers out there. The line I’m specifically interested in descends from James BALMONT and his wife Sarah nee LEGG who were married in Kenton, Devon in 1817. Their daughter, Elizabeth, born 1819 at Dulverton, Somerset had an illegitimate son in 1844 who she named Charles Henry Discombe BALMONT. Charles H D BALMONT moved to the London area in the 1860’s, and married Elizabeth Harriet MAHON there in 1869. I’m keenly interested in finding out what happened to their son, Charles Henry BALMONT born 20th February 1870 at Marylebone. In anticipation, kindest regards to all, Jon

    3. Good evening, Thank you very much for your response. I know where the CHABOCEAU correspondence is and I am looking for a person who often goes to the British Library to make a picture of these letters. I live very far from London. In exchange, I can help you find your French ancestors. 3. Hi Judy When you use the new GRO index, when you find a hit, you get the option of ordering a certificate or a PDF (which I realise you know but others may not) The delivery date of PDFs by email was the 16th November but I suspect that will move forward as the load increases This is a trial until the end of November I believe or 45,000 copies, whichever the sooner Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 09-Nov-16 9:52 PM, Judy TOC wrote: > Has anyone actually received a certificate yet? > Is it a manual or automated process ? > > I have received confirmation of my order but no indication as to when/how > it will be processed. > Judy

    1. [LONDON] New GRO Indexes
    2. Rodney Whale
    3. Hello Everybody, I have seen queries from people asking how to use the new systems regarding births and deaths. The following information has been gleaned from another Rootsweb mailing list and hopefully will assist. I registered on Friday last week and have had a great deal of success from the new facilities. Regards, Rod in Hampshire Extract The GRO have put the historic Birth & Death Indexes online for the first time and they are providing extra information that is not available in the original printed indexes used by FreeBMD, Ancestry etc. In Birth Indexes, you will see the mother's Maiden name that did not appear in the printed indexes until 1911: and in the Death Indexes you will see the age at death pre-1865. All this is valuable information that can't be found anywhere else. First go to http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ and click on "Order Certificates online". On the next page you will find a message "New functionality available". You need to either log-in or register to go further. You will then be sent a verification code by E-mail that you need to enter on the web site. Then you can make a search. You choose between a birth or death. For births, enter the surname of the person and their year of birth 2 years and their gender, as a minimum, and then press "Search" and the index data appears at the bottom of the page. You can make a search between 1837 and 1915. For deaths, you can search from 1837 to 1957 and the procedure is the same. All of the above can be done without charge! If you want to go on to purchase a particular certificate, there is a button to take you into the ordering process. --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus
