    2. I have just noticed that on a record on the 1939 census it showed a name change and wondered if anyone was able to explain what the letters meant.     3. Thank you Nivard, again, Ironically the father was the British Consul in both places so if they are missing I have only have him to blame! Luckily some of the events appear in the Family Bible in his own hand but are hard to decipher. I did find one entry in the Paris records of 1817 by making a visit to the LMA but that has been my only success so fat. Hi Listers, I have found a James Laport being insured in Drury Lane in 1781 as says occupation “Gent” then I also found a John Laport being made apprentice and mentions his father James Laport deceased but being a button maker. Could it be the same person ? Would you call a buttonmaker a gent ? thanks, Maureen in Oz.

    3. Good morning all I am having great difficulty in finding out what happened to Charles CAIRNS after 1881 Census. I have some details of his Military History which showed he was discharged in December 1888. Therefore he should be on 1891 Census. I have looked at all the Charles Cairns on Find my Past but cannot find him. I don't have access to Ancestry, so if you can, I would be very grateful. Shown below are the 1871 & 1881 Census details. It looks like they blacked this record closed almost over the Patricia listing instead of the daughter born Feb 13 1936...............hope you can find it !!!
