I have just noticed that on a record on the 1939 census it showed a name change and wondered if anyone was able to explain what the letters meant. Thank you Nivard, again, Ironically the father was the British Consul in both places so if they are missing I have only have him to blame! Luckily some of the events appear in the Family Bible in his own hand but are hard to decipher. I did find one entry in the Paris records of 1817 by making a visit to the LMA but that has been my only success so fat. Hi Listers, I have found a James Laport being insured in Drury Lane in 1781 as says occupation “Gent” then I also found a John Laport being made apprentice and mentions his father James Laport deceased but being a button maker.
