    3. Hi Jeremy Freebmd is not likely to have any that recent as its not that far advanced as yet Ancestry is better as its fully transcribed but there are 569 Eric's marrying in the June quarter of 1965, so you could plough through them all to see if any married a Bessie or Lizzie or Elizabeth (and variants) Findmypast has to have a surname so no use there Not so many people had a phone then so you may have a problem with telephone books plus most are recorded by initial(s) and surname and the address is often abbreviated What I would suggest, is see if you can track down the electoral rolls for that address around 1965 Try here http://www.enfield.gov.uk/info/604/archives-loans_donations_bequests_and_sales/968/donations_loans_and_bequests_to_the_local_studies_library/1 Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Hi I know it's best to put surnames in the topic but my problem is that I > don't know the surname. > > > > A friend of mine found some old letters in a car boot sale. 3. Hi I know it's best to put surnames in the topic but my problem is that I don't know the surname. A friend of mine found some old letters in a car boot sale. They mention an "Eric" and a "Bessy" who married on the 8th of June 1965. They lived in 72 Winnington Road in Enfield. They married quite late in life and were in their 70's. I've used freeBMD to search for marriages in all of 1965. But can't seem to find any that match. Also I have an ancestry sub but am unable to find any Eric living in Winnington Road in the phonebooks etc. (although I'm not sure that I'm getting the best results out of the search) Any ideas? Much appreciated. Jeremy

    3. Norman While I am not a lawyer, from what I understand, the term "Re" seems to be applied to what, or who, the action, or judgment, is about. My guess, from the context you presented, is that this might well be a document about multiple people/actions in which Redmayne and the others have made a motion and this is the response to those motions. Or, it could be that it is about legal actions that are underway at the time, or sometime in the past, and are being discussed in the document being written about. Thus the "Re" would/could mean 'we are writing about Redmayne's legal problems'. Or, they are citing Redmayne and the others as legal precedents in some action. Bill in the US

Hi all, I have found Clarice May WATTS, born 1894 in Westminster, London, residing with her grandfather in Haverfordwest in the 1901 census but I am not confident I have deciphered his name correctly. The reference is WATTS, Clarice M, HAVERFORDWEST, Pembrokeshire, RG13 piece 5129 folio 65 page 2. Clarice is the last entry on the page with her grandfather 3rd from bottom. I can see his occupation is Station Master but I am also not sure if I have got the abbreviation that follows it correct.
