My ancestor Aaron Lloyd was b. 1774 in NJ per his 1858 obit published in a Erie Co., PA, newspaper. Aaron Lloyd married Margaret Lindsey or Lindsley c. 1794 either in Essex Co., NJ, or in Duanesburg, Albany Co., NY (Duanesburg was in Albany Co. in 1794). They had 12 children. Their first two children were: 1. Benijah Lloyd born 18 Dec 1795 in NY. I descend from Benijah. 2. John Crilley Lloyd born 26 April 1797 in NY. The middle name "Crilley" is certainly a surname. Why the parents would give "Crilley" as a middle name to their second son has always been of interest to me. In 2000 while researching John LLOYD of Essex Co., NJ, records at the FHL in Salt Lake, I ran into the name John Crilley of Essex Co., NJ, but I did not have time to research the man to find out who he might be. Today I think I have found the answer to "Crilley" which seems to further support the belief that Aaron Lloyd's parents were John Lloyd and Rebecca Ball of Campton, Newark area, Essex Co., NJ. This online source (a book): "Family Records or Genealogies of the First Settlers of the Passaic Valley and vicinity above Chatham, with their ancestors and descendants as far as could be ascertained in 1851," by John Littell (1851) says: Under the heading EDWARD BALL DESCENDANTS (Edw. Ball was a founder of Newark, NJ.) it lists the family of Nathaniel Ball. The book says: "Nathaniel Ball lived at Connecticut Farms near where the tavern is kept on the turnpike."Then follows info on 8 children of Nathaniel Ball. #2 daughter Rhoda BALL born c. 1740 married Patrick Crilley, an Irishman, of Connecticut Farms, now Union, and had children: 1. John Crilley 2. Moses Crilley 3. Sarah Crilley 4. Esther Crilley 5. Martha Crilley 6. Betsey Crilley 7. Elias Crilley 8. David Crilley. This identifies who John Crilley was. #3. daughter Rebecca BALL born c. 1743 " married a Mr. Lloyd of Campton, now Clinton." My ancestor Aaron Lloyd's father was John Lloyd of Campton, Essex Co., NJ. Other published BALL genealogies says Rebecca Ball married John Lloyd of Campton. Rhoda Ball Crilley's son John Crilley would have been the first cousin of Aaron Lloyd, son of Rhoda's sister Rebecca Ball Lloyd. Rhoda Ball Crilley was born c. 1740. Her sister Rebecca Ball Lloyd was born c. 1743. Their two sons would have been close in age and raised in the Newark area of Essex Co., NJ which might be the reason Aaron Lloyd's second born child was named "John Crilley Lloyd". While this is not proof that Rebecca Ball Lloyd was Aaron's mother, it is another indication that Aaron Lloyd's father John Lloyd of the Campton area of Newark, Essex Co., NJ, was the John Lloyd who married Rebecca Ball (as found in Ball family genealogies). Here's another indication that it was my ancestor John Lloyd who married Rebecca Ball: Another son of Aaron and Margaret Lloyd was named "Watts Bonnell Lloyd". Naming a son "Watts Bonnell" has also intrigued me. Neither are common names. Why would they choose this name? In the same book (named above) was listed another daughter of Nathaniel Ball -- Eunice Ball. Eunice was another sister of Rebecca Ball. The book says that Eunice Ball married "Watts Bonnell". I think I have found two strong clues as to why Aaron and Margaret Lloyd named sons "John Crilley Lloyd" and "Watts Bonnell Lloyd". Helen Graves, with her Lloyd line back to John Lloyd of Essex Co., NJ My Lloyd line is: John Lloyd (c. 1740-c. 1790) m. c. 1765 Rebecca Ball of Essex Co., NJ. Rebecca died 1813 in Duanesburg, NY. Aaron Lloyd (1774-1858) m. Margaret Lindsey. Lived in Duanesburg, NY in 1800, moved to Erie Co., PA, in 1815. Died there in 1858. Benijah Lloyd (1795-1864) m. Elizabeth Dunn in Erie Co., PA. Moved to Mercer Co., IL, 1835. James Lloyd (1827-1901) m. Catherine Burroughs in Mercer Co., IL. He died there in 1901. Lydia Lloyd (1857-1886) m. Philip Walston in Mercer Co., IL. My Lloyd line ends with Lydia.
I am researching the children of Aaron Lloyd who came to Erie Co. in 1815 with his wife Margaret (Lindsey) and their children. They had 12 children -- 10 boys and 2 girls. I have been able to identify 9 boys and 1 girl. The girl I can't identify was born c. 1799 in NY. I do not know when the son was born as there isn't much space in between children. He may have been born c. 1802 in NY. They are on the 1820 census living with their parents in Millcreek, Erie Co., PA. Most of Aaron and Margaret Lloyd's children married in Erie Co., PA, but then left. Those who stayed in Erie Co. were: Aaron Lloyd Jr. born 1805 in NY; married "Peggy: by 1830. By 1836 they had 2 children (Kitty and Thomas). I can't find them after 1836. I also can't find any record of their children. Watts Bonnell Lloyd b. 1807 in NY; married Sarah B. Middleton in 1830; they had 8 children and lived in Waterford. At some time he was a Methodist minister in Girard, Erie Co., PA, so was known as Rev. Watts B. Lloyd. He died 1875. Horace Lloyd b. 1816 in Erie Co.; married Mary Ann Owen in 1838; lived in Girard, Erie Co., PA. He died 30 Aug 1895 in Girard. Any help on these LLOYDS who stayed in Erie Co., PA, would be appreciated. I descend from Aaron and Margaret (Lindsey) Lloyd's son Benijah Lloyd (1795-1864). Benijah, his wife, and their first born children left Erie Co., PA, in 1835 and migrated to Mercer Co., IL. Benijah Lloyd died in Mercer Co, IL, and is buried there as is his wife. Most of their children stayed in Mercer Co., IL; two lived in Rock Island Co., IL. Helen Graves
I am Looking for the parents and siblings of Christopher C. Lloyd. I can find him in the 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900 census, but cannot find him in the 1850 census. I was hoping to find him living with his family, but have come to a brick wall. His Civil War pension file says he was from Euphrata, Lancaster County,Pennsylvania, but that is all I know. I have numerous records and paper work, but none give his parents or siblings names. If you have a Christopher in your files and the age fits, please email me at: [email protected] He was born on October 28, 1834 in Euphrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and died November 06, 1906 in St. Louis, Missouri. He married Mary S. Gates January 03, 1856 in Jersey County, Illinois By Slaten, John W. His father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother was born in Baden, Germany. Thanks, Audrey

Hello Colleen ... I received your comment on the Lloyd family. I believe that the tree you refer me to was posted by Chris Kenney of Gananoque in 2002. It was that tree that first led me to extensive information about the Lloyd family, but the entry you refer to ... which is the critical first entry I found about the link between the Aylesworth and the Lloyd families ... is incorrect as follows: I know for certain that Simon Ferguson Lloyd married Sarah Ann Wellwood. He did not marry Sarah Aylsworth. Instead, Sarah Aylsworth was his daughter; see below. One of the children of Simon Ferguson Lloyd and Sarah Ann Wellwood was Sarah Charlotte Lloyd (also called "Lottie") Lottie eventually married William Perry Aylesworth, so her married name was Sarah Charlotte Aylesworth. Lottie and William Perry Aylesworth are my paternal grandparents, and I have copies of their marriage and death records. I also have death records for Simon Ferguson Lloyd and Sarah Ann Wellwood. I did advise Chris Kenney of these changes, but his older tree continues to be posted on RootsWeb, without the corrections. I know the names of 6 children but I have detail on only one of them, my grandmother, Sarah Charlotte Lloyd/Aylesworth. Her siblings, as detailed in my family tree, were: - William James Lloyd - Mary Lloyd - Agnes Lloyd - David Lloyd & - Elizabeth Lloyd I would greatly welcome further information on all of these siblings, their spouses and their descendants. Cheers, Sam Aylesworth Calgary, Alberta, Canada Email: [email protected]

My paternal grandparents were William Perry Aylesworth and Sarah Charlotte Lloyd. Charlotte's mother was Sarah Ann WELLWOOD, whose father was William James WELLWOOD and whose mother was Mary Drennan. To date I have been unable to find much information on the WELLWOOD family nor on the DRENNAN family. I requested a search of information in Ontario, but OGS (Ontario Genealogical Society) staff have been unable to locate anything that links to my family. All that I know so far is: - Mary Drennan was born in Ireland (don't know where & know nothing about her parents or siblings) - She married William James Wellwood. The marriage probably occurred in Ontario, Canada - They had at least two children: Sarah Ann Wellwood, born July 26 1847 in Newburgh or Newboro Ontario AND William Wellwood, born about 1851 in Ontario - Sarah Ann Wellwood married Simon Ferguson Lloyd, who had been born in Gananoque, Ontario in 1848 - One of their daughters, Sarah Charlotte Lloyd, was my grandmother. She was born in 1878 in Gananoque - Sarah Charlotte ("Lottie") married William Perry Aylesworth on Aug 2, 1899 in Beresford Ontario. They were my grandparents. I have obtained quite extensive information on the Lloyd family, which can be found in the family tree referred to above.
