Terry Here is the note that I have. In "Tennessee, The Volunteer State, 1769-1923," Vol. 3, p391 it says William came to the US from England in 1768 and that he moved to North Carolina in 1782. I think I actually read that myself rather than get it from someone else, but my reference doesn't make that clear.
