Hi Charlotte, Thanks for the response. I think I can see their point, but most of these people carry it to extremes. I told this lady I contacted last night that I was a LITTLETON, was sponsor of this newsgroup, and that who I was would be easy enough to verify by checking my e-mail address, writing to me, checking my address, etc. She wasn't even willing to contact this person and see if it was OK to give me their phone number or whatever or have them contact me. Now I will admit, that if Joe Blow from Kokomo wrote asking how to contact someone and I had a suspicion that he wasn't really a researcher, I'd take some steps to verify who he was and why before I gave out any info. Even though I have the address and phone number of quite a few people on this list, I don't give that out freely. I WILL give out e-mail addresses and anyone can use switchboard to find a listed phone number. OR, I'll get THEIR number and have the person they are looking for contact them if they want to. Who knows, this lady I wanted to reach might have been thrilled to be contacted by a distant cousin that could shed some light on her family ancestors. I guess it just part of the game, that those of us who try to be helpful, occasionally help those that aren't. Oh well Take care - Terry (listdad)
