May I add from my family's experience in the last century. Several did a load of research and had lots of interesting documents. A small part of it got published. But the major player died, they way one does, and now that the interest has been taken up again in this century, we find that all his papers have been lost. So I take the view that anything I find and am reasonably confident of, living relations apart, I will put on public view in the hope that lots rip it off!
