    3. As evidence that LITTLETON is an old name in England, I found this property on the list of historic properties in Great Britian, compiled by the British Tourist Authority. Perhaps this will be of use to someone, and is certainly of interest to anyone researching the Littleton name. Middle Littleton Tithe Barn: Near Evesham, Hereford & Worcester. Evesham is located on the Avon, about 15 K south of Stratford on Avon. A late 13th. century barn with barnyard and paddock. >From the publication, “Key to The Ancient Parish Registers of England & Wales” by Arthur Meridith Burke, Baltimore, 1962, page 103, are the following LITTLETON PARISHES: County Date of Earliest Entry Middlesex 1562 Hants 1736 Drew Wilts 1706 High Somerset 1658 North & Middle Worcester 1661 South Worcester 1538 Glousecter (Littleton on Severn) 1701 “Ton” is an “Old English” term for town, or village. Little Town, located in the Lake District of northern England is an example of this usage. Since a little town would have existed before larger communities, those with the Littleton name can claim that their family is older than others with names such as Granville, or Longville.
