Thanks very much for the information. I'll look over it and incorporate it into my data. >This tree was composed from a copy of the family genealogy tree that was sent >to me by a fellow subscriber of ours that he got from the family historian at >Frankley House in England. Red Humphrey and Stephen of Holbeche both have a generation number of "4", so this must make them 1st cousins. John of Hagley and Humphrey were brothers, sons of Gilbert, 1st son of Sir John of Frankley; Stephen was son of George of Holbeche, 3rd son of Sir John of Frankley. >husband had just died in the tower of London. What I find interesting, is >that their son Thomas who was Sheriff was mentioned as taking part in the >roundup of the conspirators if I remember right. I think there might be some confusion here: Sir Henry Bromley was Sheriff of Worcester at the time of the Gunpowder Plot. He was closely associated with the rounding-up process, and was in charge of the search at Hindlip House where Father Henry Garnet and Father Edward Oldcorne were found to be hiding. He was the brother of Muriel nee Bromley who had married John Littleton of Hagley Park, and was known to be a staunch Puritan. He was also apparently a kinsman of Sir Richard Walsh, who directed the attack at Holbeche House. Sir Henry wasn't lily-white himself, as he had been implicated along with his brother-in-law John Littleton in the Essex Rebellion. But despite this, by the time 1605 had come around, he was politically and religiously on the other side of the fence from his in-laws the Littletons. There were apparently many cases such as this, where the religious divide resulting from the Reformation resulted in families being split in two. >I'm sure there are a few mistakes, but it does seem to put Humphrey and >Stephen in their proper place, which DOES differ from the Gunpowder Plot >stated lineage.
