Bill: Thanks for the response, but most of us still question, but don't really doubt, that Thomas is the father of Hugh. As I'm sure you know, Hugh's mother signed him over for indenture at the age of 5 to be bound until 21. No mention of a father anywhere. Mother was Sarah. I feel like Thomas may have been an uncle, but that doesn't prevent him from being the father. I also have the feeling that Sarah was not a single mother. I think very possible that she was widowed by a brother to Thomas. Which one? I don't know. Maybe some day we'll all know. Bud
