    2. Dear fellow Littleton researchers: Please excuse the sorry state of my recent message to the group. It was still in the process of composition & was sent by accident. The jist of what I wanted to say about Handy Littleton & his DE marriage is almost all there, just not fine-tuned, edited, spell-checked, etc., etc. In any case, as the Japanese say, gomenasai.... 2. My great-great-uncle Handy Harrison Littleton seems to have married a lady in Sussex Co., DE, in 1865, or thereabouts (don't have the exact date in front of me), though I suspect that they lived near Powellville in Worc. Co., MD, after their marriage. BTW, this was either Handy's second or third time to the altar, as somewhere in there he married Altarttr third marriagerother C. 2. Littleton, Terry
    3. Hi all, Does anyone know anything about a George W Littleton that was supposedly b 1817 in DE and then moved to OH? I'm guessing around Sandusky, Erie, Co, OH. I just got a family group of Littletons that shows him as the father. He married an Elizabeth GIBAUT b 1821 in OH. Kids were: (all born in OH) William H b 1840 Anne b 1841 Amelia J b 1843 George W II b 1847 Jay b 1846 Charles J b 1852 Alice b 1856 Albert J b 1857 If this helps anyone, let me know as I can't place this group. I have never encountered Littletons from DL before, but since it was right next to Worchester Co, MD they could tie in there. Terry Littleton (listdad)

    1. Missouri LITTLETONS?
    2. Hi all Has anyone ever come across some LITTLETONs that were in or around the Springfield MO area around 1914? One of my Ohio Littleton ancestors (Daniel Jackson Littleton) had his body shipped to Springfield MO for burial when he died 5 Jul 1914. Obit says two of his sons were living there. They were either Dondell D Littleton, Horace A Littleton, or Arthur Ray Littleton. I need to track the descendants of this family down. Can anyone help me with MO Littletons? Thanks Terry Littleton (listdad)

    3. The first entry in our Kerr family Bible is Andrew Littleton Kerr b.Oct 14,1829 d.Dec.10,1891 Died in Pittsburg,Pa Railroad accident. Married to Josephine Augusta Switzer Oct.15.1850. Children: Clarence,Clyde,Clem,Cliff. There after each succeeding generation had atleast one child with Littleton as a middle name. We are assuming that this was Andrew Littleton's mother's maiden name. Does anyone else have this name in their research files or family line? We hit a brick wall whrn we try to trace back further than this generation. Karen Kerr

    3. We are trying to locate info on the family of Andrew Littleton Kerr.b. 1829. We assume that littleton was his mother's surname? He died in 1891 in Pittsburg,Pa. in a railroad accident. He was most likely a printer or editor of a newpaper because all of his other relatives were. He married Josesphine Augusa Shwitzer in 1850. This is as far as we are able to trace our tree. We are hoping that someone might recognize a link to their tree and provike us with additional info.If you recognize this name, please let us know. Sincerely, Karen Kerr

    3. Hi all, Since there obviously were LITTLETON and CROPPER connections back in MD, I found the following rather interesting. Not of real importance genealogy wise, but interesting. Especially to those of you with interest in the Cropper line. It came from the Ocean City Museum Genealogy Obit section. Archie Cropper 8/22/1912 Cropper, Archie First Automobile Fatality IN WORCESTER COUNTY, MARYLAND 1912 Archie Cropper, of Ocean City, Met Death in An Automobile Near Berlin, Maryland The first automobile accident in Worcester County that has resulted in the sacrifice of a human life occurred about 6 o'clock Friday evening of last week. The accident took place near Berlin, the victim being Mr. Archie Cropper of Ocean City. The car in which the accident occurred was driven by Mr. Harry Ludlam of Ocean City, who was returning to the beach with a party of men who work at his fish camp. In attempting to pass another machine, which was driven by Mr. Hale Harrison of Berlin, Mr. Ludlam's car ran unto a stone culvert along the road on the left hand side. He was unable to force the machine out of the culvert and crashed with great force against the bulwark of the cement bridge. The axle struck the bulwark and the machine glanced across the bridge, throwing the five occupants out of the car. Cropper was thrown over the breastworks and it is supposed that the wheel of the machine struck him after clearing the bulwark, as his body was found crushed against the embankment. Mr. Ludlam who was driving the machine, was thrown on the hood of the engine with such force that he carried the steering wheel with him. The other passengers were, William Rodney, Ernest Jackson and Edward Williams, who escaped injuries. Dr. Zadock P. Henry came along in a few minutes after the accident, and placing the injured man in his automobile, he was rushed to Berlin, but medical skill and science could do nothing to save his life. He died about nine o'clock, three hours after the appalling accident. Mr. Cropper was about thirty-five years old and is survived by a widow and three small children, for whom much sympathy is felt. The body was prepared for burial at the undertaking establishment of J. W. Burbage and Bro. and afterwards taken to his home in Ocean City. On Sunday, the remains were taken to Berlin for burial. As the funeral procession was passing through Berlin, it was halted by Constable Jerry Campbell on a warrant from Justice of the Peace Bennen, for an inquest. The body was again taken to the undertaking establishment, and viewed, while the widow and children and a large assemblage of sorrowing friends were compelled to await the arrival of the body at the church. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Thomas Kerr, after which the body was laid to rest in Buckingham Cemetery. General indignation is expressed at the action of the officials in stopping the funeral procession, as it is claimed such action was un-warranted and unnecessary and was an ordeal that the relatives and friends should have been spared. A report was circulated that State's Attorney, Johnson, authorized the proceedings. Mr. Johnson says he did nothing of the kind. A jury of inquest on Wednesday of this week rendered a verdict that the death of Mr. Cropper was accidental and all of the parties in the automobiles were exonerated from blame. Democratic Messenger, August 22, 1912. Sorry for the length, but I thought it made interesting reading and gives us another look at the lives and times of our ancestors.
