Terry, Glad you posted this. I would also like answer to those questions. I've posted before but found nothing. I descend from Thomas Littleton who everyones says is his son. I can not find the proof of a connection. Do you know of anyone that is researching Charles Littleton of Hawkins Co, TN. Who died before 1840. Wonder if there is a connection between the three (William, Charles and my Thomas). Hope someone does post something. I've also heard that William was in the Rev. War but don't have any of the record. Wanda
Can anyone give me any info on a William Littleton married to a Sarah Cottingham. They supposedly were in NC for a while and then either they, or their kids ended up in TN. I have info on their kids and their families so I don't need that. I need DATA on William and Sarah. For instance, I show William fought in the Rev War. Anyone know anymore about this or where he or Sarah were born or died? I have a note that says William b Eng 1742 but I strongly believe he was born in the states. Anyone ever worked on his Rev War records? Terry Littleton (listdad)

Terry Littleton (listdad) ________________________ I have just learned of a land patent records web site created by the Bureau of Land Management. It has a data base and image access to over 2 million federal land title records issued between 1820-1908 for the states of: AL, AR, FL, IL, IN, LA, MI, MN, MS, MO, OH and WI. You can actually see and print an image of the record itself or order a certified copy of the record if you want. The web address is www.glorecords.blm.gov

Hello Everyone, Believe it or not, this little po'dunk, lost-in-the-mountains-town now has TWO Internet providers. Since our loyalty lies with this new upstart group, (and because they'll let Rob build a web page of unlimited size) we're switching. Soooo- Our new address is: <rbaenc@glacierview.net> A new address should spur some e-mail to all of you I haven't written to in a while (but you know I can't get Rob away from away from his genealogy long enough to keep the checkbook, let alone say hello!!) THIS IS A LIE, IT'S ALL LIES!!!! {FROM Rob} So here's a little update- Ethan just marked 6 months in this world. He's almost sitting up, starting to cut a tooth, progressing through the pureed veggies with gusto (except beans), belly laughing at Dad's funny faces and voices, and is just in general a happy kid and the apple of his momma's eye. It's been an insanely busy winter at the clinic this year, and the hospital politics become a worsening headache almost daily (we are in the midst of yet another reorganization...) Rob and I took a short break to Salt Lake City to meet up with the family (skiing for us, genealogy for Rob) at the end of February, and it was MUCH too short. Looking forward to perhaps visiting the Midwest (Kansas, probably) in May. We're resuming the house / property hunt in this area but still suffering from sticker shock with the price of housing - and well, that's the short of it all. Hope everything is well and groovy (Rob's word) with y'all. Promise, I'll be writing again before we change servers again! Love, Amy
Does anyone have any info about a Kerr/Littleton marriage in or abt.1800? My husband's gg grandfather b. 1829 was supposedly named after his mother's family. His name was Andrew Littleton Kerr. He lived as an adult in St.Louis and died in a railroad accident in Pittsburg. We have no info on our line before him other than his middlename being from his mother's family. Karen Kerr
Just so everyone doesn't flood him with files, I just sent him a GEDCOM of my VA file. Terry Littleton (listdad)
Gee, this is the busiest this list has been in a long time. YEAH I just wanted to let everyone know that if you get a personal E-Mail, phone call or any kind of contact regarding LITTLETON ancestors that you don't know about (like the two I just sent to the list) PLEASE FEEL FREE to post that persons inquiry to the group. You never know who might be your next cousin. I also want to thank those of you that wrote to let me know you made a contribution to ROOTSWEB on behalf of this newsgroup. I thank you and I'm sure they appreciate it. I also want to thank everyone on here for making my life as sponsor very easy. We seem to have a very congenial group here and I don't see the bickering like goes on in some newsgroups. THANKS. Now back to work. Terry Littleton (listdad)
I had a lady contact me looking for the following two names. Does anyone know them?? John Baird Littleton supposedly born in MD moved to Pickaway Co, OH then to IL James Baird Littleton born in OH but then on to IL Terry Littleton (listdad)

Now this suggests that he was born in England? Was he > born before his father Col Nathaniel came to England?? Dear Terry, Yes, that would be most interesting, indeed! I too have begun to despair of finding a male line that descends from Southey much past ca. 1700. (We have daughters, like Leah, et al, but as yet no clearly identifiable male heirs). BTW, by "Col. Nathaniel," I assume you're referring to the 6th son of Sir Edward Littleton, of Henley in Shropshire, who emigrated to VA in 1635, and whose eldest brother became Chancellor of the Exchequer under Charles I? I've always assumed that the younger Nathaniel was this guy's grandson (that is, Southey Littleton's son). But you seem to imply a father-son relationship here. In this connection, I'm also not sure what you mean by came "to" England. Did you mean to write "from"? Or are we perhaps talking about another pair of Nathaniels altogether? Please enlighten! > PG 71..."The will of Edward Littleton recorded 1663. He was from > Barmbrough, County of York, England. he left one son, Jno. This is the first I've heard that we have ancestral links to that county. I've always assumed that the Littletons who emigrated to VA in the early 17th century were immediately from Shropshire, with kinfolk in Worcestershire (the senior branch of the family at Hagley) & Staffordshire (the Pillaton Hall bunch). Would very much appreciate a clarification here (and re the above). Many thanks! > "She left a legacy to Littleton Scarburgh, who was her Grandson." > > I don't show this relationship. Hi all, Thanks to everyone for all the kind words of appreciation and encouragement for my sponsoring this newsgroup. Many of you wrote wanting to contribute to the sponsor fee. Like I said, it is only $24, and as Dr Harry Littleton said, that's about $ .296 for each of you. So it's not worth the stamp. HA HA What I would like to propose is that IF YOU WANT TO, Rootsweb can always use a donation. They are continually adding new servers, etc and if you haven't checked out their home page and seen ALL that they do for free for all of us researchers, it's amazing. If you're like me, I don't like the way Ancestory.com and Family Tree Maker do business. You wanna see it, you buy the CD or subscribe. Please check out the Rootsweb.com homepage and see all that they do for free for us. AND IF SO INCLINED, maybe you could think about sending them $5 or $10 or whatever you want every year as an 'appreciation' fee. Their address is on the web site or you can use a credit card over their secured line. Just MAKE SURE you tell them you are a MEMBER OF THE LITTLETON-L surname newsgroup and are just sending them a contribution in appreciation for all their work. CARRY ON - Terry Littleton (listdad)
As mentioned in previous post, I didn't find that Littleton Scarborough was Ann Littleton's grandaughter UNLESS this is another case of names, like cousin and aunt, meaning something else. I wouldn't think that of the term grandaughter though. Littleton Scarborough was the son of Edmund Scarborough II and Mary Lyttleton. Mary Lyttleton b 1610 was a younger sister of Col Nathaniel Littleton b 1605, both having been born in Shropshire England. Terry Littleton (listdad)
Rob and Amy posted some very interesting info from a book on Early Court Records that makes me ask a few questions. I had found a notation once that Edward Littleton died and his wife was 'with child'. I always wondered about this because EXCEPT for the possibility that this unknown child was a male, the Nathaniel and Southy Littleton male line died out. NOW THIS shows the possibility that this unborn child was a male named Jno. (Does this stand for John?) Roberts Littleton. This means the could be males descendants from him that could fill in some gaps we all know exist. ALSO, I think we all have that Nathaniel was born in 1640 in Northampton Co, VA. Now this suggests that he was born in England? Was he born before his father Col Nathaniel came to England?? PG 71..."The will of Edward Littleton recorded 1663. He was from Barmbrough, County of York, England. he left one son, Jno. Roberts, to whom he gave his plantation on the seaside, 550 acres. The will of Edward Littleton recorded 1663. To his daughter Grace he left a tract of land called Mannaheridans Neck. To his wife Frances a large estate, and if her child a son it was to have all his houses and lands. He left the Court his overseers." I also found this interesting in the will of Ann Littleton, the wife of Col Nathaniel Littleton "She left a legacy to Littleton Scarburgh, who was her Grandson." I don't show this relationship. Any comments - Terry Littleton (listdad)
Would the person who is descended from Solomon Littleton and Betsy Webb in Onslow Co, NC please contact me? Terry Littleton (listdad)
Dear Rob & Amy, Many thanks, guys, for posting this fascinating information! To answer your question about the identity of "the Col.," Ann Littleton's (nee Ann Southey) late husband, he was the original Col. Nathaniel Littleton, youngest son of Sir Edward Littleton, of Henley, Shropshire. Nathaniel emigrated to VA in 1635, after serving in the Earl of Southampton's company in the Low Countries in 1622. He died in 1654. In any case, Crowson's book would appear to be an important reference work. Thanks again for calling to our attention. Cheers, Scott C.
