Beth. Aren't we all HA HA. Seriously, in all my records research, I have NEVER come across anything that mentions him, and believe me, I have looked. I have been told that the name MIGHT be Pherryl Fielding Littleton or that Pherryl might have been a nickname. Still, no luck. I also heard a rumor that this Pherryl died young after being hit by a falling tree. I do have a listing for a Fielding Littleton that was born 5 Apr 1797 in Clark Co, VA and died 30 Mar 1857 in Middleburg, Loudoun Co, VA. He was the Sheriff. This is too late to be the person we're looking for, but it would be interesting to know WHO he was named after. That might be our Fielding. This line is pretty well documented as his father was the Rev Thomas Littleton and I have TONS of info on a good many of Thomas's kids, unfortunately, nothing on Fielding. I think Rev Thomas' brother, William might be my gggg gf but I can't prove it. Terry Littleton (listdad)

I had posted a search before for a Kerr/ Littleton marriage. We have an Andrew Littleton Kerr b.1829(probably St.Louis) d.1891 in a railroad accident in Pittsburgh. Our thinking was that Littleton must be Andrew's mother's maiden name. We have since found that the parents of Andrew Littleton Kerr were Dr.James A. Kerr(of Va.) and Martha M.Bell of Kentucky. We are now left with the possibility that the Littleton middle name was either the maiden name of Dr.James Kerr's mother or Martha Bell's mother's maiden name. This couple had a younger son named James Kerr also. Dr. Kerr was killed in 1843 and Martha married Dr.Blue who was also the editor of the Brunswick,Mo. newspaper. He taught Andrew Littleton Kerr and James A.Kerr, his stepsons to be printers. Soooo do any of you have any record of a Littleton/ Bell marriage? Any help is appreciated.------Karen Kerr

Does anyone on here have the Ohio Census CD's for any of the years 1850 thru 1900? I need to see if there is a Charles Littleton listed on any of them. This Charles would have been born in Oct 1831 so that might help isolate him from any other Charles Littleton on the Census listings. I'd also be curious to know if a Lorenzo Littleton ever shows up on any of the above census. Thanks Terry Littleton (listdad)

Hi all, Since we have almost 90 subscribers on the newsgroup now, I thought I'd post a query for a lost relative of MINE for a change. Does anyone know anything about this person? The brother of my gg gf was: Charles William Littleton b 18 Oct 1831 in Clark Co, OH His mother moved with the 4 kids to Kenton (Jumbo), Hardin Co, OH about 1839-40 after her husband died. She remarried a Samuel P Vansky and the kids were raised in Hardin Co. The other three kids all lived and died in Hardin Co. But we can't find where Charles William got off to. A now deceased relative gave my father a death date of 29 Mar 1908 years ago but I don't know where she got that date, where he died, or if it is even an accurate date. All her other dates have checked out so I'm taking the chance that it is a valid date. But it is in that time right before deaths were required to be reported to the state so without knowing what county he died in, I'm lost. The Pres of the Hardin Co Gen Soc has torn Hardin Co apart and can find no death, marriage, etc info on him so we suspect he packed up and left Hardin Co. when he was of age BUT FOR WHERE?? Has anyone on here come across this person? Terry Littleton (listdad)
The following message was NOT passed on to the group by ROOTSWEB because they do not handle HTML or Enriched text posts. I'm sending the message along, but pmartin@horizon.hit.net, you need to turn off the HTML option on your e-mail. Sorry, not my rules but here is what ROOTSWEB says is their reason. Your post to the list follows below it. Terry Littleton (listdad) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The message submitted to this list (included above) wasn't sent to the list subscribers. RootsWeb accepts only plain text mail. That means that HTML mail, attachments, ``enriched text'', and a few other formats can't be sent to RootsWeb mailing lists. You can post your message if you send it in plain text; turn off the ``Post in HTML'' or ``Enriched Text'' features of your mail reader, or don't use any attachments. See http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/listowners/html-off.htm for instructions on turning off HTML in most of the popular mail programs, or ask your ISP's technical support line for help. We've had to institute this policy because of the problems that accompany these fancy mail formats. Some people don't have mail programs that are capable of processing the special file formats. Even among those who do, different mail programs handle these special formats in very different and confusing ways. HTML messages pose special problems to our digested mailing lists. Most of all, HTML-ified mail and attachments place a considerable burden on RootsWeb's overworked machines. All in all, mail in this format produces a lot of problems for RootsWeb's servers and subscribers, so we find it's best just to use plain text. -- The RootsWeb staff > I am seeking the parents of John B. Hi all, Just a little reminder - Rootsweb software makes maintaining this newsgroup a pretty 'hands-off' situation, BUT you guys have to do your part. If your e-mail address changes because you switch services, YOU need to UNSUBSCRIBE your old address (naturally before you cancel it and can't use it anymore) and then SUBSCRIBE your new address as soon as you get it. If you don't, then I get returns for all the mail to the old address. The past two addresses have been coming up INVALID for the past couple of days. If you still have the ability to use the old address, please UNSUBSCRIBE them. If you don't, write me and I'll take them off. If I don't hear from anyone by week end, I'll have to take them off anyway. AND REMEMBER - send these requests to LITTLETON-L-request@rootsweb.com and turn off any signature files. Put word SUBSCRIBE or UNSUBSCRIBE only in the body of the letter. FAWalker@aol.com Joyfarrar@aol.com Thanks Terry Littleton (listdad)

Welcome to the Littleton.rootsweb! Yes, I'm well aware of that 15th-century pre-nup and the fact that if Elizabeth hadn't been such a strong woman, we Littletons would all be researching the Wescotes rather than people bearing her father's surname. Talk about family pride! BTW, you may be interested to hear that my older daughter Leslie (I have no sons) has decided to follow in her ancestor's footsteps & pass along her Littleton surname to her first male offspring (her husband agrees). So Elizabeth de Littleton managed to set a precedent that's still alive and well five-hundred plus years later in at least one lineage of the Littleton clan! Cheers, Scott C. Terry Here is the note that I have. In "Tennessee, The Volunteer State, 1769-1923," Vol. 3, p391 it says William came to the US from England in 1768 and that he moved to North Carolina in 1782. I think I actually read that myself rather than get it from someone else, but my reference doesn't make that clear. I don't have William and Sarah's children, just Thomas and William F, so I would appreciate that information Thanks m At 11:33 AM 4/8/99 -0400, you wrote: >Can anyone give me any info on a William Littleton married to a Sarah Cottingham. Has anyone researched the William Littleton in Johnson Co, NC 1784-1787 census? 1 male 21-60, 2 male above 60 or under 21; 3 females. Is this William Littleton that married Sarah Cottingham? Wanda
