I am going to try this once again. I am seeking information on John Baird (Bayard) Littleton according to 1880 census of Shelby County, Illinois he was born in Marylandat time of census he was 47 years old. He was married to Liza A. Bennett 17 February 1845 in Pickaway County, Ohio. Their children were as follows: Mary, Julian, Sarah E., Lucilla, James, Margaret, William H. and Rosa S. anyone with information pertaining to the above please contact me. I could use any help I can get. I am descended from their son James. Pat
Hi Joyce, I think the death date you posted for Thomas D Littleton is a typo. Could you please give me the correct date? I have a group of FL Littletons that I am working on and it would help a lot of you could give me counties in GA, FL, and TX where these kids were born or died. I can't seem to find a connection yet, but I'm working on it and that data might be a big help. Also, do you have any info on Littleton descendants of the Male children in this family line you posted. Terry Littleton (listdad)
Here is what I have. Really only 15 children and 1 I am not sure of. Maybe someone has a record of her (Mary E. Littleton who married a Calvin Bransher.) I also hope all this goes through. It is probably a little longer than Terry's. If anyone needs something from the 3rd generation contact me. Yes, Terry, I was wondering if I had accidently unsubscribed. No doubt now. Terry, Thanks for the information, you have a lot more information than I have on some of the descendants. I do have a few corrections that you might want to know. Mary Susanna Littleton and spouse Robert Brown (my great-grandparents) are buried in Parker Co., TX not Carter Co. and their son Charles Harrison Brown (my grandfather) d. Feb 2, 1908 not 1942 in Peaster, Parker, Co., TX also.
Does anyone have the names of the sixteen children and their spouses? If so kindly post the information. This is the right time and location for the Littletons that I am looking for. I anxiously await to see the information. Godspeed, Karen Kerr

HEY, I finally stirred up some discussion amongst this group. I thought everyone had died. HA HA Rick, thanks for the record pointers. I sent it on to Brian and we'll see if he can track something down. He's GREAT about finding records. Terry (listdad)
You are correct, Cal, they are the same. Pherel Fielding Littleton, b. 15 June 1797, in Fleming Co., Ky. is the Pherel Littleton 1820 Clermont Co., OH census; Fielding Lyttleton 1830 Clermont Co., OH census; F. Littleton 1840 IL Fulton Co. census and Fieldon Littleton 1850 IL Fulton Co. census. spouse Anna France b. 6 October 1802, in Botetourt Co. Va., m. 5 August 1819, Clermont Co., OH. They had 16 children. And a big thanks to Rick Phillips for the information on Ferrill, Ferrell and Pherel Littleton. At least he was real what ever the name. In the 1820 Census for Clermont County, Ohio (Ohio Twp) I have a record of a Pherel Littleton that is the head of a household. The information in that microfilm shows 1 male under 10, 1 male 16-26, 1 female 16-26, and 1person engaged in agriculture. This may be the same information that Rick is refering to below. I also show a Fielding Lyttleton in the same township in the 1830 Census. In this case it shows 1 male under 5, 1 male 5-10, 1 male 30-40, 2 females under 5, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 20-30. Since I don't find Pherel Littleton in the 1830 census one could speculate that they are the same person. On these pages, he is a witness in wills dated 1750, 1751, 1752, 1753, and 1761(or 1765). His name is spelled Ferrill or Ferrell Littleton. These wills are not connected to other Littletons as far as I can tell. The second reference to this name that I have found is the 1820 census of Clermont Co OH, in which John and Martha's son is written Pherel Littleton - this is their son Pherel Fielding Littleton. A third reference, from "BUCANAN COUNTY HISTORY, VOLUME 1, 1984" (Missouri) AUGUSTUS LITTLETON "This branch of the Littleton family probably came to the United States when the immigrant, John, Sr. sold the family jewels in England to pay for passage for himself and several children to Virginia. He was a widower at the time. His son, Pherel, Loudon County, Virginia was killed by a falling tree around 1775. John, son of Pherel, married Leanner Goddard around 1785-86. Leanner was one of a large family who lived on Fox Creek in Fleming County, Kentucky. They became progenitors of many Buchanan County early families" These three references certainly suggest a connection for John to Farrell (Sr), as John's son was given this name. Also the fact that Farrel Littleton was in Fairfax Co in the 1750s, makes him a prime candidate for John's father, but I have seen no proof as yet. One possiblity is that John's father's name was a combination like John Pherel, or Pherel John, etc. and that he used different names during different parts of his life. In any event, there was a man in VA who used the name Farrell/Pherel/etc. during the 1750s. One possiblity is that John's father's name was a combination like John Pherel, or Pherel John, etc. and that he used different names during different parts of his life. In any event, there was a man in VA who used the name Farrell/Pherel/etc. during the 1750s. Terry and all, I never ever believe anything is 'Too Far Fetched'. I get caught red faced when I do and it turns out to be true. Also, this is one way of bringing out other ideas. I have searched everywhere that I can think of on the internet and don't get even a bite on Pherryl or Pherrill LITTLETON. I believe he exhists because Pherel Fielding got his first name from somewhere. I have found that 'Fielding' was a rather common name at the time, but not 'Pherel'. I have found Pherrill as a surname. Nothing connecting to his time period. It is an odd surname. One is in the 1850 MS census. I also have the note that he was killed by a tree, but I believe I got that from you Terry. Keep up the good work. Hello all, Well this is really stretching it a bit, BUT, what do you who are descended from the John Littleton - Martha Goddard line think of this scenario? Brian, a fellow Littleton researcher and I have been working on finding out just who this Pherryl Littleton, father of John Littleton who married Martha Goddard actually was so we can connect him back to our VA tree. Everyone says the same thing, John was the son of Pherryl who was the son of John, BUT Brian and I can find NO written record of a Pherryl Littleton in any VA records. People say - OH yeah, there is a record of Pherryl in ....... Co records, but if so, we have yet to find them and would LOVE to see a copy of them. Brian proposed the following scenario: Hiatt's "Implied Marriages of Fairfax Co." (next to Loudoun Co) has a John Littleton m. to a Frances Harle. (I presume this would be before 1760) John, who married Martha Goddard, was born 1760 I have a note that says that John's father (the mysterious 'Pherryl'?) was killed by a falling tree in Loudoun Co, VA in 1775 In 1787 a presumably-widowed Frances Littleton lived in a cluster in Loudoun Co. with William3 Littleton and his sons Charles, Thomas and Solomon. Earlier, (wonder what date - pre 1775?) a John and Thomas Littleton entered Loudoun Co. public service claims for supplies they provided to the Marquis de Lafayette. What we propose is that William3 Littleton also had a son John who was married to Frances Harle, that this John died early, such that the Tavener genealogy research did not pick him up and why he wasn't in his fathers will. This John Littleton and Francis Harle had a son, John who married Martha Goddard and moved to Fleming Co. KY. Is it possible that 'Pherryl' is a confabulation of 'F.Harle' which would have been John's mothers maiden name and over the years, F Harle got converted into P-herryl and people started saying this was John's father because it would sound more like a fathers name than a mothers? OK, I've got my flame retardant suit on, fire away. Terry Littleton (listdad)
