I thought I'd forward it to the group in hopes someone on here might recognize these people. I can't find any of the amywhere. I thought since ther were in Fairfax CO, VA they would be part of the huge VA tree I have, but no luck. Harry or Tom, do any of them ring a bell with you? Her e-mail address is <ginman@connectcorp.net> Virginia Nichols Manning If anyone can help, please write her but CC the list so I can have the info. ......................... Terry, am wondering if you can help me. In the list below, there is a Uriah Nichols, 55, living in the Lawson Littleton household. I would like to know more about him and Julia L. Littleton. I have reason to believe she might be his sister. My greatgrandfather was Uriah Nichols b. 1817 Marion Co. TN. It is my thought that this other Uriah could be his father. In the AR 1870 census my Uriah is listed, and living in his household is a Julia [sometimes listed with no last name & sometimes listed as Nichols]. Have been trying to solve the puzzle of who Julia was, and then the other day a cyber friend steered me to Lawson Littleton, because of the Uriah Nichols living in his household. Another thread is that my Uriah had a cousin named Lawson Nichols, a brother of John Clifton Nichols. There are just too many coincidences to not check it out. Saw your offer on the Littleton GenForum about a Littleton Newsgroup. If you can't help me solve this mystery, then maybe you'd better sign me up for the newsgroup. 1. Re: Indiana (Cal's reply)
    2. Hi Cal, I have an obit for a Granville Fisher Littleton that says he was born in 1850 in N Vernon, IN to Joel Littleton and Martha Ann Brant. Joel and Martha were married 6 May 1846 in Warren Co, OH so why was he born in IN? Joel and Martha are both buried in the Clifton Cem (on Clark-Greene Co, OH boarder) near Springfield. I'm trying to find where Joel was born 6 Nov 1823, but not having any luck. I was just curious why Granville was born in IN. Martha's death notice says she was born in Springfield but then again it says she was 5 years old when she died (NOT). I have quite a trail on the Clermont Littletons but can't seem to find your Hugh or Elizabeth Packard. Would you be so kind as to send me a ftw or gedcom file on that line? I'd sure appreciate it. 1. Re: Indiana
    2. I believe North Vernon is in Jennings County, Indiana. What is the name you found? My ancestors, Hugh Littleton/Elizabeth Plackard, moved their family (1840s) from Clermont County, Ohio to Spencer County, Indiana and had several children there. Later (1850s) they moved to Hancock County, Kentucky and then on to Wisconsin (circa 1860) where he and two of his sons enlisted in the Union Army. Following the war they settled in Adams County, Illinois. Like I told this person I forwarded it to, I'd sure appreciate a FTW or GEDCOM file of this family line when someone gets it put together with dates and places, etc. In case some of you don't know, I try to maintain copies of all our different LITTLETON trees for reference and sometimes I get lucky and hook some together. 3. Since I moved I have not been able to make sense of my jumble. However, I did have a researcher doing work on FARRELL LITTLETON, and he found him in court documents in Alexandria, VA. The time was right for him to have been the father of John Littleton who married Leanner Goddard. I have no proof that he was. I have the papers somewhere and am still searching. There was also a Pherel Littleton in Loudoun County Virginia who witnessed many marriages, and could not have been the same man as my ancester Pherel Littleton who was living in Illinois at that time. I could not trace this Pherel anywhere. I will try to get settled and will send more information to anyone who is interested. >LITTLETON-D Digest Volume 98 : Issue 75 > >Today's Topics: > #1 Re: Littleton, Goddard; 11/15/98. 3. In the recent discussion on Augustus Littleton, I noticed several of the LITTLETONs ended up in Bucanan Co, Missouri. I have a Littleton ancestor back in Ohio whos body was shipped to Springfield, MO where his children lived. They were all born in OH and I've always wanted to know WHY they went to MO. Is Bucanan Co anywhere near Springfield? Is anyone familiar with Littletons in MO? I did a query there but never got any responses. Terry Littleton (listdad) Terry

    2. Dear Bruce, I've always assumed that my late father and I were the only "Scott Littletons" in the history of Los Angeles County.... But I guess not. Do you have any further information on these two Littletons? Such as where in the L.A. area they were living at the time of their deaths in 1909, do any of their descendants still live hereabouts, etc.? I'm pretty sure they--or their line--weren't close relatives. My late grandfather, Covington Henry Scott Littleton, was born in Wicomico Co., MD, in 1860 and settled in Pasadena, CA, in 1904, after practicing dentistry in Philadelphia for twenty-five years. But who knows for sure? Thanks for the post. Cheers, Scott C. SCOTT LITTLETON "Any sufficiently evolved Professor of Anthropology technology is indistinguishable Occidental College from magic." 2. This didn't go to the list so I'm trying to forward it - Terry (P.S. It did get cold here over the weekend - down into the 50's at night brrrrrrrrr) ;-) Hi Terry and List, First for Terry---stop telling us how warm/hot it is down there---you know how cold it is here in Ohio!!!!! Second I waited and no one responded to the inquery on Pherel Littleton and Leander (Goddard) wife of John Littleton. So I went through my notebooks for a "clue". I have a Goddard Family Genealogy and there was some reference to the Littleton's but most of it all known information. Something of interest I did find was that the town of Goddard was first know as SANFORD (now known as Goddard or Goddard Village). The account is as follows: "Leanner (or Lena-Lee Anne-Leaune) Goddard (Littleton) (daughter of John Goddard) (Mary McTier) ) b. prob. bet. 1767 -70 in Va (prob. Fairfax co.; could have been Fauquier Co.); died bet. 1840-50 at Sanford, Ky. (grave has not been located; prob. bur. on the home farm). She married; in Oct, 1787 John Littleton, Jr.; b. bet. 760-65 in Va. (one source says, possibly in England) d. in Sep. 1836, Sanford. Farmer. Issue--12 are known; possibly as many as 13 or 15. The following from "BUCANAN COUNTY HISTORY, VOLUME 1, 1984" (Missouri) AUGUSTUS LITTLETON "This branch of the Littleton family probably came to the United States when the immigrant, John, Sr. sold the family jewels in England to pay for passage for himself and several children to Virginia. He was a widower at the time. His son, Pherel, Loudon County, Virginia was killed by a falling tree around 1775. John, son of Pherel, married Leanner Goddard around 1785-86. Leanner was one of a large family who lived on Fox Creek in Fleming County, Kentucky. They became progenitors of many Buchanan County early families" Maybe some one can find a connection to our immigrant ancestor from the above. Some of it conflicts with known data---but perhaps a start. Carleene Roe
