    3. Joan, I'll second what Drew said. When I was getting my e-mail through Syracuse University, my actual address was mdtaffet@mailbox.syr.edu, but I used mdtaffet@syr.edu on some lists. I was not able to send mail from the @syr.edu address, but I could certainly receive mail sent to that address. The @syr.edu was nothing more than a convenient alias.
