Robert- First find the message in your list's archives and copy the URL where you found it in the archives. Next go here: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/remove and paste in the URL of the message to be removed and click to initiate the removal process. Then click the HELP tab in the RootsWeb masthead at the top of the page--on the right side. Next click the Ask a Question tab at the help site. Let the HelpDesk know you have initiated the removal process and need them to complete the action. and follow through with msg to listmaster@rootsweb.com for quick and complete removal if it is compromised subscriber. I found this to be pretty fast. past in the archived message's url in msg and state the problem.
