    3. I just tried this after having looked at the 'RootsWeb List Administration Resources' page where I find the following links to be inactive (no URL): Mailing List Archives Searching in the Mailing List Archives (NO URL) Removal of Archived Messages (NO URL) And I just tried your procedure listed below. It sent the confirmation to the Sender Address on the original message. That is hardly any help as it will only confuse the sender (who just happens to be the assistant admin and whose address had been filched). I still need an address to which to send the URL's that I, The Admin, want to have removed. Thank You, Brad Miter >>Message: 6 Date: Sat, 7 Jul 2012 09:52:35 -0400 From: "Diana Gale Matthiesen" <DianaGM@dgmweb.net> Subject: Re: [LO] Mailing list To: <LISTOWNERS@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <004301cd5c47$c37858d0$4a690a70$@dgmweb.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Go to your list archive and pick up the URL to the message, then enter it on this page: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/remove Diana > From: Sonny O'Haver > Sent: Saturday, July 07, 2012 9:18 AM > > Can someone tell me how to delete a post in the archives. Looks like some other mail would be better to change to since this is such a wide spread disease. I have had a few members using HotMail and had to get gmail just to write to me about being hi jacked and could not access their account. So far since the conception of G mail and using OE for pop, I have been lucky I guess. But I know what Nelda posted is not uncommon. Its hair raising to say the least. As for saving any thing on the web in mail accounts, those messages could be pop to your PC and saved in the HD as well as leaving a copy on the server, thats what I do with G mail. Its saved to my external HD in a folder store off the C drive and not in the OE environment, you can do this simple enough with thunderbird or what ever. Good Strong Passwords! My sister had given her data to a we-gonna close your account email and DUMB me I used her name as my password. They had my account in minutes. Use upper /lower case letters, symbols and numbers.. never make a word, or saying..... NEVER use the same password on more then one account. I now keep a little black book with all my different passwords and change the password often.... I don't use OE, I go online to my account and read the email there, I do not store emails on my computer ....Free Hotmail has NO tech support... Paid for Hotmail accounts do... Back to original message... Do something to stop the SPAM... at least moderate immediately...
