On the subject of placing new subscribers on moderated status, it has been my experience that the trouble-makers usually have sent their malicious emails before I even received notice that they had subscribed. They subscribe and immediately send out their garbage. I still do place some on moderated when I feel suspicious (multiple subs in a short span of tme).
