    2. I just find that it's a shame for anyone (list admin or otherwise) to take what is intended as helpful comments as being personal attacks rather than being informative as I'm sure was intended by all. There are a variety of reasons we get upset over spam coming through lists -- it causes a lot of work and damage ...the spam has to be deleted from the list archives and staff has to be informed to complete the process if the original poster doesn't remove it but that is only the tip of the iceberg. There is the initially unseen damage caused when list members receive the spam message in their spam folder and end up mistakenly reporting RootsWeb as the source of the spam and getting removed from their lists. Worse yet, the spam may be grabbed by the receiving ISP and they may end up blocking RootsWeb as the spammer. I have seen this happen on lists I admin a number of times. Immediately after the spam comes through the list either because of a compromised subscriber account or because of spoofing of a subscriber address...I will see several unsubs come through ...and then it falls on me as admin to contact these people and check to see if they had intended to unsub or whether they spam caused the unintended action. These subscribers then must resub -- so all in all any time spam comes through a list it causes turmoil for everyone on the list. Joan In a message dated 4/6/2012 11:44:05 A.M. The ignorance does not lie with Megan [list admin for LO].... and this now looking like some want to get upset for any reason. I am done with this conversation as I do not want to get unsubbed or banned on LO.
