David, Could you explain this a bit more? Specifically, what is a "project on loan"? Could you give an example of a "mailing list that is hosted/maintained by a person belonging to a project". If I read what you said correctly, a 'genweb' list can impose restrictions. Is this correct? And lastly, give an example of a 'genweb' list. It's a good thing there is no such thing as a stupid question! <BG> Carl Hommel -----Original Message----- From: W David Samuelsen Sent: Wednesday, April 25, 2012 8:25 PM To: listowners@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [LO] Projects owning lists? if it says 'genweb' in the mailing list name, it belongs to the project on loan. if it does not say at all - it belongs to Rootsweb and subject to RW's maintenance and list rules. RW owns every one of the lists hosted by RW. Restrictions are not tolerated on non-genweb lists (eg bans against various groups and websites) just because a mailing list is hosted/maintained by a person belonging to a project. These rules have not changed in more than 10 years.
