Lynn, They started sending these out pretty recently (few months, maybe?). It's explained at the beginning of the message: "Dear (name of subscriber), I am the person at RootsWeb who is responsible for the overall management of the mailing lists we provide for the genealogical community. It has been pointed out to us that starting yesterday, your email address, xxxx@xxxx.xxx,has been posting spam to some of the lists to which you are and have been subscribed. It is likely that your computer or your email account has been hijacked by a Trojan that is using your email account to send such spam. Please make sure that you locate a competent malware removal program that will detect and clean your computer of such a problem or contact your email provider to correct the problem. These messages and the responses that cite the spam message are being removed from our mailing list archive. To prevent your email address from sending additional spam to the subscribers of our mailing lists, your address has been unsubscribed from all of the mailing lists to which you were subscribed. After your computer has been cleaned of Trojans and your email account is secure, you are welcome to subscribe again. Please consider using another email address to subscribe. For your reference here is a listing of the (number) mailing lists to which you were still subscribed today. (list) A blind CC of this message is being sent to admins of these mailing lists to inform them of the action we have taken. Respectfully, Gerhard RootsWeb Listmaster" Nan On 4/1/2012 10:47 PM, Lynn V wrote: > I received this email on the 28th of March. The headers are below. The big problem is what the subject line looks like in the admin's In Box. It simply says, "You have been unsubscribed from all your RootsWeb lists" IIRC. All it would take to fix it would be a little "Re: " at the beginning of the subject, for the blind CCs. I now filter these to Trash, unread, so for me it doesn't matter. Darrell
