I find that more credible than your conclusion, especially since re-installing Java immediately solved the problem. On this PC, I am using the latest version of Firefox on Vista. The LibreOffice version of OpenOffice, running on Win 7, apparently does not depend on Java for Help but I only did a cursory test. Darrell
