Why not just recommend that the poster (and societies) post to Gen-Events, a RW list specifically for noting events, whether conferences or reunions. All subscribed are interested in hearing about events anywhere in the world. And I'm aware that the Cumberland Gap event is pretty big, with people traveling long distances to participate--I know someone who came from Europe last year to exhibit. Maybe Gen-Events should be publicized more, so it gets more subscribers (I have no idea how many are subscribed, though I am myself), but the right forum for this kind of post DOES already exist on RW...
