Hi Lynne I didn't check all the lists, just those I mentioned, I lost interest at that point I see there is trickle on your list but it is a trickle and no more The problem is that the would be seller has an extremely limited audience, thats not to say that I don't think it worthwhile to advertise on there but who is going to see the posts, very few I would wager The better avenues by far would be the specific County list or the likes of Ebay It is far safer for the buyer to use the likes of Paypal which is totally for the buyer and against the seller rather than configure their own transaction with someone they don't know Posts are so few as it is I can see no reason to have lists that no one uses as they do not know they exist Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 16/02/2013 16:56, Lynne wrote: > Nivard, not everyone is comfortable buying or selling on auction > sites, and it's nice to have another way to sell without having to > pay any fees. I knew of the list GEN-BOOKS, since I've seen it before because I'm always exploring some of the various Topics lists. One of the companies posting on that list used to post all of the time to the counties along the VA/NC border and was actually offering their Free Books online to the public, which they did for years. But about a year or so ago, I recall seeing one or two complaints on the lists about why they were offering the books, and the administrators apparently stopped them from posting; perhaps one of the adm. recommended that they post to the GEN-BOOKS list. I thought it was a shame, because the company offered quite a number of free books viewable and downloadable to anyone, but I suspect it was the fact that the company also had books for sale (although the links they provided always took you directly to their free books section) that might have caused some confusion and some people didn't like it. I'm sure it was a way for the company to get some advertising for it's other books since it was likely that folks would take a look around the entire site to see what else was there, but frankly, it was a loss to researchers and the company is a legitimate one unlike a certain other one which posts non-stop on the Message Boards.
