The one thing they did adjust some time back...when they switched to having all lists have a confirmation for subscribing they added a check box on the confirmation page so that people who subbed via email notice had a box on the confirmation page to select digest mode. Before that the subscription was in L mode and if they wanted digest they had to contact the admin to check off the digest box. All previously subbed addresses that had been in DIGEST mode before MailMan were left in digest mode at the time MailMan was implemented as the list software.
